Wow, another great month has flown by. Our family has been spending more time outdoors enjoying our newly landscaped backyard. We have butterfly and bee friendly plants which are in bloom right now-- purple, red, white and yellow flowers. Sage and Amara enjoy spending time in the yard. Tonight Sage started laughing while watching Amara and Mom kick a big pink ball across the yard. Laughing is a new and exciting development! Daddy has been able to get Sage to laugh while making facing and tickling him. He has the cutest laugh! Amara has been a very nice big sister to Sage. She lets us know if she hears him wake up from nap and she reminds Mommy to "check on him". It is sweet and caring. She also likes to lie next to Sage on his play mat while he plays with his dangling toys. The sibling relationship is really special. Daddy has been working hard while Mom is still on maternity leave. Sage and Mom takes walks in the neighborhood when Dad is at work and Amara is at preschool. ...

Sage is 2 months old and we can't believe how fast he is growing. At his 2 month pediatrician appointment we learned that he is 25 inches long which puts him in the 99th% for height. Daddy, he may be looking you in the eye one day! It has been fun watching Sage become more interactive and expressive these past few weeks. He has been smiling more and showing an interest in playing close to his big sister. Sage received a cute turtle mirror for tummy time. It is his favorite possession so far. He smiles when he sees himself in the mirror and seems interested in the crinkly noise and dangling, colorful parts of it. Other than sleeping, eating, snuggling and hanging out Sage does a great job hiccupping and looking cute on camera. See the evidence below! And I must mention that Amara adores her brother and has been incredibly sweet, thoughtful and affectionate toward him. She sometimes offers suggestions, "Maybe he needs his pacy (pacifier)". When Sage was 11 days old we had photos taken by photographer Kelsey Smith. Sage is a month old now and much bigger than he was in the professional photos! He weighs 10 and a half pounds now and spends more time "checking things out". He loves having company-- it entertains him and keeps him awake. When the house is quiet he sleeps a lot more. He is definitely aware of action around and he wants to be a part of it! Amara has been attending her preschool 3 days a week and she really enjoys it. She enjoys playing with her friends and trying new activities. She has been an awesome big sister! She talks to and kisses brother Sage and she helps Mommy by running to get what is needed (i.e. a blanket or burp cloth). We are settling in to a rhythm here and time is starting go by quickly again as we get used to being a family of 4.

Our son, Sage Aerith, arrived on 3/25/17 at 10:41 pm. He weighed 8 pounds 4 oz and measured 21 inches long. We are so happy and in love with this little guy! He is strong and healthy. Amara is now a proud big sister and we are a family of 4! He was born at UCSD Jacobs Birth Center after a relatively short labor. Daddy and Mommy were helped out by a kind doula named Dara and awesome UCSD staff. After two nights in the hospital we were back home. It was a deeply touching moment when Amara arrived at the house and met her brother, Sage, for the first time. I think everyone had tears in their eyes.
