Sage is 8 months -- Amara is 4!
There is so much to report from the month of December-- Sage's 8th month and Amara's 4th birthday month. Sage went from a rolling over baby to a crawling baby who can pull himself up to his knees. He is thrilled with these new developments as he can get around faster. And he does! He loves crawling to Amara's chairs and pulling on them as well as crawling into her room to discover her toys. She has been a good sport about it and is very kind and affectionate toward her baby brother.
Let's talk about Amara's 4th birthday. December 19th fell on a Tuesday and we plan to have a birthday party in the new year (after holiday busy-ness settles down). On the 19th we had cake with Grandpa Patty and Grandpa Hamid and Daddy. Amara decorated it herself. And she opened a few gifts. A few days later we took her to Corvette diner for dinner. That place is all about fun for kids. The wait staff dresses up in crazy attire and wears wigs; they will make you a hairdo out of straws. There are games and prizes to be won. Dad earned 3000 tickets using his gaming skills and this scored a giant slinky and more.
At 4 some of Amara's favorite things are: playing with friends, being at preschool, helping in the kitchen, hanging out with her grandparents and uncle, going to the movies with Dad, doing Highlights magazine with Mom, and going on outings. Her favorite places are the Science Museum and the Children's Museum downtown. Amara is quite articulate for her age. I always intend to write down the cleaver things she says. She often asks questions about how things work including questions about the body (i.e "why do we have blood in our body?" "what are bones made out of?")
Sage is "talking" more too. When he is happy and excited he babbles. He out for people. The other day he crawled down the hall (sister was in her room sleeping) and it sounded like he was calling her name -- "Aa ha wa". He also has said "Da da" a few times.
This is a precious time for us.
Christmas was a lot of fun and we were blessed with an early Christmas celebration (Faux Xmas as the Simpsons call it) with the Simpson-Wilson family, Don, Sarah and Maeve, and Grandpa Bob (Poppa) and Jan. We enjoyed hanging out at the Del Mar condo, eating (hahaha!), having kids exchange gifts, and going to the Zoo.
Christmas Day (the 25th) was lovely as well. We spent it with Grandpa Patty, Grandpa Hamid and Uncle Cyrus. The kids were showered with gifts and love!
