Sage is 1 years old!!

On April 4th we had a birthday party for Sage at our home. We invited friends and grandparents, had a music teacher from Nightingale Music lead music activities, and we enjoyed good food and cake!
It was a warm, sunny day in our backyard and we all enjoyed relaxing in the beautiful garden with flowers in bloom. Sage LOVES being outdoors. It is his happy place. So the setting was perfect. He was not shy and seemed to enjoy the company and the cake for sure! He used the single cake candle (non-wick end) as a tool to get the icing in his mouth. We took a video of this adorable idea.
He also liked the bright balloons and crawling around in the grass. Sage's 7th tooth (on the bottom front) came in around the time of his party. He is still without molars but quite an adventurous eater. He likes crawling, pulling up to stand, and "cruising" down the sofa or bed. He also LOVES trying to get involved with any activity Amara is doing. He sees her come home and immediately smiles, gets excited and crawls to her. Amara has been patient with Sage (even when he takes what she is playing with) and still refers to him as a "cute little baby".  We are so proud of both our kids.

I am reviewing my last blog post and cannot believe (once again) how much the kids have grown in the past few months. Amara will be 5 in less than a month and Sage is 20 months. We have had many fun moments and life has been busy and simple at the same time. Thanksgiving Day conversation: Patty Ann: Who is your favorite princess? Amara (wearing a fancy princess dress): I am not really into princesses; I like kings and queens. Patty Ann: Ok, you are a queen, Amara Amara loves her preschool and talks a lot about her friends there. One neat thing they discuss at preschool is how to fill each others "buckets". If you say or do something nice it adds a drop of water to the person's bucket. And of course, the opposite could be true. I once heard her say "Don't be a bucket dipper". July and August 2018

Summer fun and more growing and changing! Amara has been enjoying her "puddle jumpers" (floaties) and swimming in the Y pool this summer. She has also splashed around with delight in the San Diego Bay. Amara is 4.5 and she just amazes us with her creativity and articulate speech. She used the phrase "I lost interest" referring to doing something she was into and now less excited about. That impressed Mom this morning. She also plays very nicely with Sage which absolutely makes his day. She does peek a boo, tickles and finds toys to keep occupied. Like any sibling there are times when she needs space but it is fun watching the two bond and hang out together. Let's talk about Sage for a moment. It seems as though as soon as he learned to walk most of his remaining baby teeth came in. This must not have been comfortable but he dealt with it well. Month 5

Sage's rate of growth continues to amaze! He is wearing 9 month clothes and more active by the day. His recent challenge is trying to learn how to crawl. He is quite determined and tries very hard! Sage rolls on his belly many times a day to practice. He loves to grab toys and other interesting objects. He loves being outside and looking at the butterflies and pretty flowers. Today he grabbed and picked a flower from our garden! Amara and Sage continue to have fun together. Amara is a constant source of entertainment for her little brother. She talks to him and lays next to him and sings him songs too. Sage likes to go pick her up from school with Mom. He gets a sneak peak at what preschool will be like and loves all the energy and excitement there! This month our family went on a short but very sweet trip to San Clemente.
